Day 3 - Part 2 - Feltre to Grappa and Padena 50K

After pizza, insalata and cafe in Belluno, we had a great clearing of the skies and mounted our bikes at quarter before 4pm. Yeah, it was late but the soft pink light that seems to dominate italia was just kicking into gear.

Pat, Bill, Deb and Guy set off a blistering pace up some unknown climb. Not enjoying the pace and the rate at which my heart was pumping causing my shoulders to crest against my ears, then this position cutting off circulation to my arms...suddenly a member of our climbing team pulled away and started down. It was Guy! As he passed, he murmured, I'm headed for the rollers and within seconds I was on his tail, like white on rice. Passing Chris she had that look of envy and shouted, wait for me!

Then we set out to roll through the charming villages, stopping at epic vistas and scoring a gelato before heading home. We were successful with all and my ears never touched my shoulders the rest of the ride. Oh and the gelato was amazing!

Stats for the day:
50K
1800 feet climbing
2 hours of riding
1 gelato stop
2 cycling groups (1 composed of those who raced this season and wanted nothing remotely resembling a race AND 1 group who saw the short day as pain fest).
2 people (maybe more) suffering from post term stool babies.
